Kannawidan: The Ylocos Festivity

          The festivity which the whole province of Ilocos Sur celebrate every year is known as "Kannawidan". This celebration of the province promotes different cultures and traditions of Ilocos Sur. The Ilocano people showcase cultural shows, native products and even their unique talents. This Kannawidan Ylocos Festival became an annual festival which aims to create awareness on the preservation of the province rich cultural heritage, tditions and practces, and its various industrial ad agricultural products of the beautiful province. It is important to preserve our rich heritage and unique culture. With this in mind, the government of the entire province conceived a festival that highlights the culture ad traditions, and attracts local and foreign tourists as well. Kannawidan Ylocos Festival is also the commemoration of the anniversary of Ilocos Sur as a rich province.

Kannawidan means traditions and this province got to showcase all what it has. The festival is very significcant especially to Ilocanos as they are celebrating the foundation of Ilocos Sur as a province. The connection of different municipals found in this province with various beliefs and products. Ilocos Sur is really a home of uique attraction like the beautiful places, delicious products and ric culture which will surely attract tourists. This Ilocos Sur celebration or Kannawidan is celebrated at the end of January with different activites like streetdancing, product exhibits, and other contests or activities.
